The RSL BEC Para Badminton Event 2023 concluded last Sunday, marking the climax with the enthusiasm of the prospective coaches and administrators as a great end to a fruitful three-day event in Sardinia.

This developmental event, which includes a BWF Disability Coaching Workshop, Level 1 and an Administrator Course, has not only demonstrated a willingness to promote the growth of Para Badminton, but has left its mark on the participants and on the sport on the picturesque island.

The air was filled with a spirit of collaboration. Tommi Saksa, Development and High Performance Officer at Badminton Europe, delivered the Administrator Course alongside Development and High Performance Manager Jeroen van Dijk. Reflecting on the success, Saksa expressed: “The RSL BEC Para Event 2023 was a success. The host was very welcoming, and we worked together to deliver an outstanding event for the participants. We would like to thank the Sardinian Regional Federation for their incredible collaboration.”

“I am pleased with the outcome. At the Administrator Course, the participants had many fruitful discussions and networking. We hope that they will continue to work together after the event,” added Saksa.

Kaity Hall, a Scottish expert who led the Coach’s Course, praised the event, saying: “I think Badminton Europe always puts on a great event. The hosts have done a great job setting up the venue and the courses, and the candidates are excellent as usual – very enthusiastic and eager to learn. One of the strategic goals globally is to produce more, better coaches and administrators. This is a great part of that.”

Tove Söderdahl, an Administrator Course participant from Sweden, shared the evolution of her experience, participating in the Trainer’s Course of the 2021 edition of Para Event: “The big difference is that now we can talk more about the administrative aspects of how we do it in our countries, not on the field, but behind the field, and that’s really good.” “We can learn a lot from each other,” added Oscar Fahlström, a fellow participant from Sweden.

Dario Milačak from Bosnia and Herzegovina expressed his thirst for knowledge, saying: “We come from a country where we don’t have much experience in Para badminton. We want different knowledge from other countries to use in ours. There are really good coaches at this course and event.”

Another edition of the RSL BEC Para Event comes to a close, touching the hearts of those passionate about promoting inclusivity and excellence in Para badminton.

On behalf of the Badminton Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dario Milačak (coaching course) and Saša Klopić (administrator course) attended, both of whom are members of the Sertini Doboj Badminton Club.
