A big badminton event is upon us
Belgrade will host the Badminton European Confederation (BEC) Congress at the end of March 2025, which is a great recognition for Serbian badminton and an additional step in strengthening its international reputation. This decision was made at the recent meeting in Budapest (2024), where representatives of European badminton federations gathered.
“I believe that this function is a recognition for Serbian badminton but also for the country as a whole. The Secretary General of the Badminton Association of Serbia, Miodrag Kaličanin, and I, with the support of numerous colleagues from countries in the region and other parts of Europe, have done something truly great at the Congress this year. A double victory was achieved, while strong international ties and contacts were certainly further improved. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate my dear colleagues from the Hungarian Badminton Association on the successful organization and to thank them for the exceptional hospitality,” said Jovović.
At the same event, Radomir Jovović was re-elected as a member of the BEC Board of Directors, confirming his key role in the development of badminton at the European level. The Congress will bring together BEC management, presidents, general secretaries and other officials of European badminton associations, as well as guests from the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and other continental federations.
The great importance of this event is also reflected in the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be part of it, which represents a significant step forward for badminton in our country. The presence of a representative of the Badminton Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who is also the president of the Badminton Club Banja Luka, as well as the presence of the president and founder of the Badminton Club Sertini Doboj, will enable further strengthening of regional cooperation and exchange of experiences with leading European officials.
“This is an excellent opportunity to connect with key people in European badminton and strengthen our position internationally, with the aim of further developing badminton in BiH, given that in addition to Banja Luka and Doboj, we have two other important clubs, namely BK Sabad Sarajevo and BK Herc Široki Brijeg,” said Brane Srdić, President of the Badminton Federation of BiH.
Dario Milačak, president and founder of the Sertini Doboj Badminton Club, added: “Being part of such an event gives us additional incentive for further work and development of badminton in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and especially badminton in the Doboj region, where we will present our three-year work in this way, as well as the City of Doboj.”
This Congress will be an opportunity for Serbia to once again demonstrate its ability to organize prestigious badminton events, while the presence of the delegation from BiH will contribute to better cooperation and promotion of the sport in the region.
