A meeting that opens a new chapter
An extremely important and historic meeting was held today between **Kada Delić Selimović**, Executive Director of **Special Olympics Bosnia and Herzegovina**, and **Dario Milačak**, President of **Badminton Club Sertini Doboj**.
The meeting confirmed that badminton has officially received a quota to compete at the 2027 Special Olympics Games in Santiago, Peru. This is the first time in history that Bosnia and Herzegovina will have badminton representatives at this prestigious international competition within the Special Olympics.
Three-year work of the Sertini Doboj Badminton Club
Behind this historic decision stands almost three years of continuous work by the **Badminton Club Sertini Doboj** with children and young people with developmental disabilities.
The club’s president, Dario Milačak, together with his team of coaches and associates, has systematically built an inclusive program based on expertise, patience and faith in the potential of each athlete. Through regular training, competitions and support for families, a stable model of inclusive badminton has been created that is now receiving international recognition.
This success is the result of teamwork, long-term vision and consistent commitment.
Prof. Dr. Kada Delić Selimović – Olympic experience in the service of inclusion
Prof. Dr. Kada Delić Selimović is one of the most important sports figures in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a top athlete, she represented our country at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 and Atlanta in 1996, leaving a strong mark on the history of BiH sports.
After her competitive career, she focused her extensive experience and knowledge on the development of sports and academia, and her many years of work in the field of inclusion through sports. As the Executive Director of Special Olympics BiH, she actively contributes to improving the position of people with intellectual disabilities, developing a system that combines professionalism, empathy and international standards.
Her international experience, academic title, and long-term engagement give additional weight and credibility to this historic step forward.
BH badminton on the world stage
Bosnia and Herzegovina will have the right to delegate one male and one female person to represent badminton at the 2027 Special Olympic Games.
This is the first appearance of BiH badminton at this level and a strong message that inclusive sport in our country is growing, developing and becoming part of the global sports scene.
Next steps – responsible and professional preparation
The following is now in front of the Sertini Doboj Badminton Club and the entire team:
- selection of one male and one female representative
- continuous professional and competitive preparation program
- medical and classification procedure
- organization of logistical and financial support
This is a new phase of work – a phase of serious, professional and strategically planned preparation towards 2027.
