Youngest among seniors: Sertini at Hungarian Open 50th
At the prestigious Victor FZ Forza Hungarian International 50th tournament in Budapest, Aleksa Ilić and Filip Janjanin from the Badminton Club Sertini Doboj, led by coach Dario Milačko, made their debut in senior competition — as the youngest representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the men’s doubles qualifiers on October 29, 2025, they played against the Finnish pair of Akseli Aalto (22) and Alvar Melleri (23). They did not qualify for the main draw this time, but they showed the maturity, fighting spirit and sportsmanship required on the international stage.
Career-building experience
Although they are not yet 17 years old, Aleksa and Filip have already learned important lessons: the rhythm of tournaments, adapting to less familiar styles of play and navigating large halls. It is precisely such experiences that make the difference in the upcoming matches. The team continues preparations for the next competitions with even more motivation and clear goals for progress.
Support from experts and sports institutions
We would like to thank the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports of the Republika Srpska for the support and trust it gives to our young athletes.
The coach of the Serbian national team, Milan Barbir, has achieved notable results with his team, and during the meeting he gave coach Dario Milačka and our juniors, Aleksa Ilić and Filip Janjanin, several useful tips — guidelines that will undoubtedly be useful to them on their path to further progress. It is nice to see an old friend again, who previously visited BK Sertina Doboj, and to hear that he is pleased with how dedicatedly the club invests time and energy in our young hopes.
Networking that expands horizons
The great wealth of sports is networking. Our players socialized with competitors and coaches from the region and beyond.
A brief meeting with a successful dobojlija who works as a manager on one of Viking’s ships was an additional inspiration — a nice reminder that dedication and professionalism open doors beyond the sports field.
