Meeting with partners of the "Women in the Field" project: sport, inclusion and empowerment of women in rural communities
A delegation from Rotary International, CIHEAM Bari and Rotary clubs from Italy, Germany and Bosnia and Herzegovina visited the Sertini Badminton Club in Doboj, as part of the final activities of the “Women on the Court” project, which has been implemented in the Vukosavlje municipality in recent months.
The delegation included Lino Pignataro (IPDG, Rotary Club Bari Sud), Stefano Vianello (Rotary Club Bari Sud) and Maurizio Raeli (CIHEAM and Rotary Club Bari Sud), along with representatives of Rotary Club Doboj, the Faculty of Agriculture and Food of the University of Sarajevo, and local institutions and partners.
During the visit, the guests learned about the club’s work and its activities that connect sports, inclusion and education, especially through programs in which children and young people, including children with developmental disabilities, practice badminton and develop motor, social and life skills.
Representatives of the Sertini Badminton Club presented projects that promote equal opportunities through sport and emphasized the importance of cooperation between sports organizations and international partners in the development of socially responsible initiatives.
During the conversation, possibilities for future cooperation on projects that would further connect sports, education and rural development were discussed, with a special emphasis on empowering women and youth through sports and joint social activities.
The “Women in the Field” project (Global Grant No. 2466292), supported by Rotary International, was implemented with the support of CIHEAM Bari, the Women’s Association “Dobor Kula”, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH (MoFTER) and the Municipality of Vukosavlje. The project aimed to strengthen the economic independence of women in rural areas and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
The visit to the Sertini Badminton Club was an opportunity to demonstrate how the values of sport, community and education can be connected to the goals of sustainable development and community empowerment.
